Donna had been dreading this day since the day the boss announced she and Daniel would be heading to Scotland to review the UEFA Cup Final. Her mind had been on Eric constantly, what was he doing? Was he okay? Did he love her anymore? He knew nothing about her heading to Scotland for the weekend, so she decided to change her answering machine message, letting everyone know she’d be out of town for the weekend.
Things with Daniel were certainly easier after their talk. If she had the choice, she would have much rather be reviewing this herself, but unfortunately that wasn't her choice and if she was going to succeed she'd need to play by their rules. She looked around the airport terminal aimlessly, not really focusing on anything in particular, just watching all the different people milling around until a deep voice broke her thought "Hey."
Donna turned around on her seat and saw Daniel, he was dressed in black tailored trousers and a blue shirt tucked into his trousers, with a few buttons open at the neck. Donna had forgotten how breath taking he was, but she would never tell him that. "Hi," she offered a small smile, before turning back to face the window's overlooking the airport runways. Daniel sat down beside her, his arm brushing against her bare arm. "Looking forward to seeing Scotland?" Donna nodded "Yeah, I’m looking forward to it, it’ll be different," she smiled with a small glance in his direction. "Good," he grinned in return.
Suddenly the announcement tanoy sounded: Flight number 277-GLA flying to Glasgow is now boarding. Could all passengers please make their way to gate number fourteen. "That's us," Daniel announced picking up his bag and waiting for Donna to collect her things. She lifted her handbag, pulling it over her shoulder, checking she had her passport and ticket to hand she followed him to the gate for boarding.
Daniel was nervous about being with Donna again. He wasn't entirely sure what this weekend would hold for the two of them, but he knew they would be attending the game tomorrow then flying home on the Sunday in time for work on Monday. It was one thing about the boss; he would definitely make sure they didn't miss work. It would be interesting to see how she would be around him now that everything had changed. No matter what Daniel said, he found it hard being with her knowing they were no longer engaged, knowing she wasn't his, she was Eric's.
They were seated quicker than everyone else, as their tickets allowed them seats in first class, which were always seated first above other passengers. The seats were large and comfortable, each with its own drinks holder and small table. The air hostess moved her way down the passengers, finally stopping at Donna and Daniel. "Hello, may I take a drink order for after the take off?" she smiled with her unnerving Barbie doll smile. Donna thought a moment "could I have a white wine, please?" the woman nodded jotting it down then looked at Daniel. "I’ll have a Jack Daniels," he answered simply. She noted it then made her way to the staff cabin to take her seat for the take off.
Good evening, this is your captain speaking. I'd like to welcome you all on board this flight from Los Angeles to Glasgow. We are expecting to arrive in Glasgow at approximately five am, British time. On behalf of all cabin crew on board, we'd like to wish you a pleasant flight.
Donna felt sick with nerves. She placed a firm grip on either of the arm rests, as her face became a little paler. The plane slowly made its way to the runway, just the motion of movement worried Donna. Daniel noticed her face paling, he placed his large warm hand on top of hers "it's okay," he whispered. Donna looked at his hand atop hers, as shivers ran through her body at his touch. She didn't say anything in response to him. She looked out the window and noticed the plane was now stopped at the bottom of the run way. Suddenly she heard the wings adjusting outside for take off and the engines roaring as the plane ran along the runway gathering more and more speed.
"Oh god," she mumbled. Daniel pulled her head down onto his shoulder and stroked her face, his head resting against hers "it's okay; once we're up we'll be okay. I forgot how much you hate taking off and landing." The warmth and comfort of his body felt good, as bad as it was. Her stomach lurched as the plane left the ground gliding through the air on its accent. She let out a little yelp and moved closer to him, closing her eyes in fear.
Daniel smiled down on her; maybe it would be easier than he thought to woo her again. Well certainly easier than pinning her down on the bed and feeding her the little surprise he'd brought along with him. His smile almost became evil as he thought through his little revenge plan for her. He almost felt sorry for Eric, he didn't intentionally want to drag the bastard into it, but he'd done that one himself, now it was just a matter of time before all their lives would change. Some for the good and some would never be the same again.
